Cranbrook School aspired to convert the Perkins Building into a dedicated world-class Music Facility. To bring this vision to life, the school engaged TCW to procure loose furniture and specialty joinery units for administration areas and teaching spaces within the building. The client’s brief was clear – to provide highly functional and durable furniture solutions that offered flexibility and contemporary aesthetics.

The Michael Kirby Law Faculty at Macquarie University represents a transformative partnership between Hassell Studio, FDC and TCW resulting in a cutting-edge educational space that marries functional elegance with flexibility. TCW’s ability to source and provide a wide range of furniture solutions, from renowned brands to its own TCW Collection, demonstrates our versatility and capability to deliver exceptional projects.

Hassell Studio, was entrusted with designing this four-storey transformation, centred around a full-height atrium crowned by a glazed roof with integrated photovoltaics. “The adapted reuse of the existing structure extends the life of the building and re-purposes it to ensure it is future proof for years to come,” stated the architects.

The new structure has been formed of cross-laminated timber, “further reducing the carbon footprint of the building while creating an environment that is warm, tactile and welcoming.”

The law faculty now stands as a testament to TCW’s commitment to excellence and their ability to create spaces that inspire, foster talent, and meet the evolving needs of education.

For this project, TCW delivered 664 x Noom 30 and 50 Chairs in a range of styles, base options and upholstery detail to suit different areas, showcasing the adaptability and versatility of this furniture collection.

A total of 105 Actiu storage cabinets were installed throughout the faculty.

SKY PARK – SYDNEY FC

In September 2023, Sydney FC proudly unveiled its remarkable $30 million football and community precinct, Sky Park. This state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence is poised to redefine the club’s identity, serving as a central hub for professional football teams, the youth Academy, dedicated coaching staff, and essential administrative personnel. The inauguration of Sky Park also marked a historic moment for women’s football in Australia, introducing dedicated facilities to nurture the most promising young female footballers, thus paving the way for Sydney FC’s A-League Women’s squad.

The collaboration between Sydney FC and Macquarie University was instrumental in the success of Sky Park. This partnership was founded on a shared commitment to fostering community engagement, education, and grassroots football. Sydney FC Chairman Scott Barlow was actively involved in the project and spoke with excitement at the opening, “Sky Park is finally here. It is a world-class facility that we have been working on for many years. It brings together our entire club under one roof for the first time. We now have a home, in Sky Park, to be very proud of.”

From the ergonomic To-Sync task chairs by Dauphin to the versatile Noom 50 breakout chairs with removable writing tables by Actiu and stackable Noom 50 chairs, equipped with trolleys for mobility, every piece contributes to this dynamic facility. The new Sydney workplace for a global producer and distributor of premium beverage brands represents a significant achievement for an organisation deeply rooted in the hospitality industry for generations. This project involved the adaptive reuse and transformation of a historic building, spanning two adjoining structures in Surry Hills, a city fringe suburb. Interior Designer Margaret Hughes collaborated with the US Director of Real Estate and the client’s Australian management team to provide a comprehensive solution covering tenancy sourcing, design, documentation, procurement, and delivery. To streamline the project, TCW was engaged as a turn-key procurement partner, managing and coordinating all furniture items in the client-facing areas, including reception spaces, meeting rooms, breakout areas and a sophisticated bar and entertaining area.

As the sole supplier responsible for sourcing, ordering and delivery, TCW ensured that project timelines were more predictable and were able to provide a cohesive and consistent approach that aligned with the overall design concept. Collaborating closely with the designer, TCW supplied essential furniture pieces integral to the design enhancing the overall aesthetic and contributing to a functional and ergonomic work environment.

Given the client’s premium products and the Sydney market’s high-end dining scene, the interior exudes an industrial chic aesthetic. It resonates with the building’s architectural fabric, characterised by light, textured brickwork, and exposed timber. The layout prioritises visual interactions with customers, starting with a welcoming reception area leading to meeting rooms and a tantalising glimpse of the bar and entertaining area. The corridor is thoughtfully framed by architectural elements, creating a strong sense of arrival. Operable walls enhance flexibility, and copper metallic finishes add an elegant touch to the overall design.

The project signifies an impressive conversion of a historic building into a practical and visually appealing workspace that respects the client’s heritage while embracing the lively essence of Surry Hills. It is evidence of meticulous design, effective coordination, and a deep appreciation for the client’s brand and principles.

Westfund Customer care Centres Rollout

Westfund has been caring for Australians for over 140 years with its origins in the provision of health cover to the mining community in western NSW. Throughout this time, Westfund’s focus on health and wellbeing and connection within our communities has seen their greater expansion into regional areas in both NSW and Queensland. TCW has been working with Westfund and Danks Design Group on the rollout of customer care branches over multiple sites, to coincide with their brand evolution which is as much a celebration of the history of Westfund and their focus towards the future.

The projects, located in regional centres, form a central strategy for Westfund in their establishment of accessible and member focused facilities for both senior members of the community and the growing number of people relocating from city centres since the pandemic.

The guiding principles of the design reflect the notion of a welcoming and comfortable space with well-being, sustainability and technology considered throughout. The brand identity’s circular language is woven through the spaces providing a reference to the holistic nature of Westfund and its cohesive and community focused philosophy.

TCW’s ability to supply furniture solutions nationally enabled consistency and certainty in all locations. Sit-to-stand desks are teamed with adjustable monitor arms to deliver workstations that enhance productivity, ergonomics and well-being. The dynamic and affordable To-sync chairs combine clever design with functionality with synchronised movements and total adjustability. Noom Chairs provide comfort for visitors with their friendly and elegant designs, which promote communication and relaxation and the graceful Little Perillo chairs make a stylish impression. Meeting spaces are informal and flexible and lounge areas are designed to enhance the warmth and welcoming atmosphere. Sustainability initiatives include the selection of energy-efficient lighting and services and carbon-neutral floor coverings made in part from recovered and recycled fishing nets.

The rollout of customer care branches for Westfund has delivered on its promise to create welcoming and beautifully designed facilities that are focused on providing an excellent workplace for its staff and memorable experiences for its members. The projects are a direct reflection of Westfund’s process which is founded on collaboration, innovation and engagement.

PLC VISION VALLEY

PYMBLE LADIES COLLEGE – VISION VALLEY

Set on more that 75 acres of land surrounded by national parks and close to the majestic Hawkesbury River and its tributaries, Vision valley is located 45 minutes’ drive from the main campus of Pymble Ladies College (PLC). Vision Valley was created to provide an extensive, diverse range of activities for experiential learning and wellness activities for the students of PLC.

The facility includes a conference centre, sporting field, camping area, an archery range, a dam for canoeing and raft building, rock climbing and abseiling sites, ropes course, mountain bike trails and a dual zip-line. Vision Valley is designed to build the students self-efficacy, resilience, courage, leadership and team work under the guidance of specialist instructors.

Stringybark Lodge at Vision Valley, is the transformation of an existing student accommodation building into an experiential learning facility for the students of PLC designed by Janineous Design to create a ‘home away from home’ for up to 70 students.

Connecting the indoors with the outdoors was of prime importance and has been achieved through the use of hues of green with light timbers, neutral flooring & window treatments with accents of white incorporated into the design. Aquila Chairs in the entry area reflect the biophilic colours and forms of the natural eucalypt surrounds. Their elegant design adds a sense of warmth and welcoming atmosphere to Stringybark Lodge and their excellent craftsmanship provides all round comfort.

Flexibility and modularity are key features of the space, with furniture selected to allow for a variety of accommodation styles and also allow the students to change furniture arrangements to suit their activities. Folding U.R tables by Thinking Works provide settings for learning and dining and allow for open floor space whilst stored effortlessly in dedicated storage rooms. Components are produced from materials such as die cast aluminium and have been designed using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to ensure the strongest structure whilst eliminating excess material. U.R has been designed for 100% disassembly, ready for recycling and are fitted with lockable soft tread castors and are supplied with table linking mechanisms as a standard feature.

Fiore Chairs by Dauphin complete the flexible dining and learning space and continue the theme of hues of green and white accents. Inspired by the smooth contour of a petal, the seating shells on sled bases allow for easy stacking and storing.

Modular seating and large operable wall complete the multifunctional area which is bathed in natural light with uncompromised views throughout of the bushland surrounds. Stringybark Lodge has successfully created a welcoming and supportive environment which enhances the learning experiences for the students of PLC.

Chau Chak Wing Museum

TCW have been providing furniture solutions throughout The University of Sydney for nearly a decade including the Chau Chak Wing Museum which was designed to share USYD’s vast collections of antiques with the wider community. The collections began in 1860 and have continued to grow showcasing significant artistic, scientific and archaeological artefacts.

From ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt, to the art of First Nations people, and the works of leading contemporary artists, the Chau Chak Wing Museum is a centre of cultural and artistic excellence and was completed to the Gold Level Standard of the University’s Sustainability Framework model, equivalent to the GBCA’s Greenstar rating. TCW assisted FDC and the Architect to provide a unique customised seating solution for the Museum’s welcome area which receives visitors on route to view the collections which contain over 30,000 artifacts.

On the impact of the museum, donor Dr Chau Chak states, “It is my sincere hope that the Chau Chak Wing Museum not only directly benefits Sydney’s cultural landscape and emerging generations who seek knowledge, but also indirectly encourages others to contribute meaningfully to the enrichment of Australia’s arts and culture.”

TCW have been providing waiting room furniture solutions at sites across NSW, Victoria, ACT, Western Australia and South Australia for ForHealth Medical Centres since 2019.

ForHealth exists to support independent doctors, dentists, nurses and allied health practitioners. Their mission is to empower over 1300 independent health practitioners to provide quality, accessible healthcare for all Australians from the largest cities to the most remote and at-risk communities.

A suite of products has been installed in over 22 locations specifically for healthcare environments including, Oxy-Ply Chairs made of a single sheet of ply which is lightweight and sturdy with full lumbar support. Manufactured by Luxmy, the Oxy-Ply Chair comprises of a plywood frame over metals that are commonly used for bariatric seating, bringing a sense of warmth and comfort for waiting patients. Uma Beam Seating is a versatile, natural style visitor chair system designed by Lledo & Campos for ACTIU which can be customised with different arm options and provides maximum comfort through its smart combination of shapes and textures. Uma’s technical savviness and quality finishes further improve the ergonomics and enhance its aesthetics. Inspired by meandering rivers, Bend Seating moves through the spaces creating different lounge areas which cater to patients waiting individually or in groups. Consisting of four different modules, Bend Seating provides an almost infinite scope for customisation. The seating solutions now installed in ForHealth’s Medical Centres are teamed with Australian made Talki Tables by Luxmy, which are manufactured with class, simplicity and sustainability in mind.

TCW has completed the new workplace for Tennant Australia in Western Sydney, a recognised global leader in the design, manufacturing and the creation of innovative solutions for sustainable cleaning equipment and products. Working with JMD Design and Accelerate, TCW supplied and installed workstations, loose furniture and accessories that were in line with Tennant’s sustainability initiatives to create a “cleaner, safer and healthier world”.

TCW’s recommendations included the Matrix Pro desk system as it represents the next innovative step for aiding the alternation between sitting and standing. The worktop can be swiftly and silently adjusted to the desired height. Through the cable management system solutions, the desk always looks tidy in any position. Combined with LX Desk Monitor Arm, screens can be positioned to suit the user’s requirements to create a perfectly ergonomic position as well as freeing up desk space and increasing visibility. To ensure that the client’s floor layout best suited their requirements, TCW also created a customised solution in the form of 120 degree workstations which satisfy the precise needs of certain user groups.

Both ergonomic and practical, the Anders Chair provides a modern compact designed chair incorporating both timber and polypropylene. The chair offers a high level of comfort and support as well as being very, strong, durable and stackable to 4 high. The Anders Chair is the ideal solution for the break out areas and staff café, adding a splash of colour and sophistication to the workplace. These combine beautifully with Australian-made Talki tables which are perfect for collaborative and flexible environments. To further support the workspace, storage items including lockable mobile pedestals and tambour door cabinets were installed with biophilia elements positioned throughout in laminate planter boxes.

TCW Continue to support Schools in the Soloman Islands

There was a total of 405 desks, 426 chairs and 24 boxes of stationary distributed to the 16 schools. The furniture was reallocated from TCW’s continuing work with Roseville College in Sydney and also reinforces our priority of keeping products in use rather than going to landfill.

Despite the challenges of the global pandemic, TCW have successfully donated another container of furniture for schools in remote locations in the Solomon Islands including Temotu, Ongton Java, Renbel and Guadalcanal & Malaita inlands. This container, the 4^th received from Australia, has supported 16 schools with essential desks and chairs for the children and teachers. TCW’s work with Pacific Assist, a not-for-profit charity serving the nations of the South Pacific, has contributed to their mission of strengthening the educational capacity of disadvantaged communities by providing learning resources, such as books and furniture.

In 2020, the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MEHRD) in the Solomon Islands was given the opportunity to receive donated chairs and desks from schools in Australia as part of the churches mission, most notably in remote provinces like Renbel, Temotu and Choiseul.

The refurbished Head Office for Bakers Delight in Camberwell, Melbourne was accomplished during the difficult COVID lockdown and completed successfully with strict adherence to Victorian Government guidelines.

TCW worked with Client Based Solutions, JMC Design and Tornado to supply and install 163 Markant MOX Workstations with pedestals; 29 Thinking Works I AM Tables and Luxmy Talki High Benches. TCW also supplied 10 Noom 30 reception Chairs by Actiu, 78 Tambour Doors Storage Cabinets, 11 Laminate Credenzas and 147 C-Me Monitor Arms.

Bakers Delight were celebrating 40 years in business and wanted to create a warm and inviting space to reflect the culture of Baker’s Delight and to ensure all staff felt like they are part of a family environment. The site is in the same site as when they started all those years ago that included open and collaborative zones with finishes that included soft timber hues, hints of gold, calming sage and an abundance of biophilia to create a tranquil space that also pays homage to bakeries of old.

The new workspace for Hudson in Brisbane was designed to capture their desired Scandinavian aesthetic and flexible workplace practices. The direction was to create an open and inviting space that blurred the lines between front and back of house spaces. The Buttercup Lounge by Luxmy provides a welcoming seating area with its subtle angles that delicately contrast its robust form. The ensemble is complimented perfectly by the Noom 10 armchair by ACTIU. Informal meeting areas were created with Pablo Chairs coupled with the distinctive Cheese on Toast table, both by Luxmy. In the kitchen area, Noom stools provide seating for gathering and collaboration.

A key feature of the design brief was to ensure adequate privacy for the interview & meeting rooms whilst creating a natural circulation flow throughout the space. It was imperative that the enclosed spaces had a high acoustic value to limit any noise transfer into the open plan zone.

Larger conference style accommodation was created with the Azile folding table Vega Chairs with multifunctional and practical Moving Wall panels providing privacy screening and surfaces for presentations

Inspiration for the palette and finishes were derived from Queensland’s coastal beauty and natural landscapes. Soft timber tones, textured finishes such as wall paneling and stone effect paint created a light and airy feel within the space.

The designers, IA, worked closely with TCW to develop a custom clover workstation which was to be height adjustable and promote agile working styles. At TCW we understand that customised solutions are a part of achieving optimal results for our clients and provided the solution to customise one product to achieve four different applications.

The Snowflake shape workstations required customization as the fixed height and sit to stand desk needed to be applied to desking for 4 people in Snowflake shape and a cluster of 4-person seating positions with individual user height adjustment (sit to stand). Lockers and handheld storage boxes were provided to each staff member encouraging a clean desk policy.

One of the key features within the space was a screen that created an intimate feel in the reception area whilst providing a functional separation from the workspace. It was important to create visual transparency into the open workspace whilst maintaining a level of privacy for staff. Being eco-conscious a mesh screen was incorporated that is fully recyclable reducing its environmental footprint.

Hudson’s new space reflects the company’s ethos of creating a fulfilling workplace that support positive outcomes for their staff. The workplace design brings people together to collaborate, socialise and achieve great outcomes for each other, their clients and industry partners.

Situated in the heart of Macquarie Park, Aristocrat Technologies undertook a fully occupied refurbishment of their full building, seven storey national headquarters. In collaboration with Luxmy, TCW was brought in by Alkimi to supply a range of custom loose furniture items for this new Office.

Alkimi’s design for the space led them down a biophilic route with Aristocrat wanting a natural connection to be felt. This ideology guided them in designing healthy and light filled spaces. The inspiration for the colour palette utilised throughout was an echo of the Aristocrat branding, where bold colours take on both a sophisticated and playful role as the spaces unfold from formal meeting rooms and tranquil wellness spaces to a lively café and congregation spaces.

With the biophilic ideology in mind Luxmy and TCW were engaged to design several bespoke loose furniture pieces for the new space and worked closely with Alkimi to achieve this.

Along the corridors and egress where people pass through Garden Bench was paired with Rosebud Ottomans. Combining the two informal furniture pieces allowed for social interactions and quick touch down meetings to be had.

With an open office design being established, there was a need to introduce places where workers can retreat to, to have semi-private meetings or get away from the hustle and bustle of the office. The Hedgeline screening system was used as a way of wrapping small furniture clusters to create sanctuaries.

The statement furniture piece for the offices are the custom designed Hollyhock lounges; a high back round lounging system, designed in such a way that it allowed for a planter and tree to emerge from the centre and epitomise the culmination of biophilia and colour that was requested by the client.

Other items used throughout the project included the Iconic Conical tables manufactured in Wilson Traceless Black which ensures no finger prints are left behind and the sleek Topiary lounge supplied in a range of autumnal tones.

Northern Beaches Hospital

The Northern Beaches Hospital is a Level 5 facility providing a range of services. The primary objectives of the hospital development were to deliver the best quality integrated health services and clinical outcomes to the community of the Northern Beaches of Sydney, where public and private health care are integrated into a single facility.

TCW were engaged to supply furniture solutions to different parts of the hospital. A variety of products manufactured by Actiu provide both front of house aesthetic elegance as well as purposeful and practical solutions to meet the needs of a high functioning hospital. To make a statement in the atrium foyer of Northern Beaches Hospital, the iconic Badminton chair, with its design inspired by the shuttlecock used in the sport of the same name, is combined with the Eeni chair by Lux Studio to provide a comfortable and relaxing oasis away from the from the hustle and bustle of the hospital environment.

Avant modular bench seating, upholstered in solid in polyurethane for easy cleaning, is installed in the foyer of the Medical Centre, among other locations. This product is a perfect fit with its smooth lines and clean aesthetics and provided a comfortable waiting and rest area to the users in these designated areas.

Wing Chairs are installed throughout the hospital, both in the wards as visitor chairs as well as meeting and breakout chairs for the staff. Its polypropylene composition make it an ideal choice for a health care facility due to its antimicrobial properties: easy to clean, stackable and with an extensive colour range.

The Northern Beaches Hospital image is one of care and commitment, safety and excellence. It provides an important civic anchor to Frenchs Forest, and to the whole of the Northern Beaches.

Capitol Theatre

Originally designed by Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin in 1924, Melbourne’s Capitol Theatre has been reopened by RMIT University.

Book A:

The historic cinema has been repurposed as an education facility for students studying film and digital media, and it will also be used as a public cultural venue.

Six Degrees Architects and Hutchison Builders completed the multi-million dollar refurbishment, which involved the retention of the iconic geometric ceiling of the cinema and the restoration of the entrance, as well as providing learning spaces for more than 1,000 students, new office and incubation spaces.

All the ceilings and critical heritage elements are overhead, and all the new work comes up underneath.

The client had aspirations to re-invigorate their existing accommodation to support their staff into the future.

Book A:

TCW provided an ergonomic sit-to-stand workstation solution to replace their old fixed height snowflake style desks and increase the occupancy of the existing Operations Centre. EON Workstations were used to address acoustic concerns and re-invigorate the existing accommodation.

The sit-to-stand operation of the EON workstations will support the staff into the future and the colourful PET Screens helped address acoustic concerns and the animation of the space. Various EON workstation configurations were used including, individual workstations with plywood modesty panels for the offices and pentagon shaped workstation clusters with EFit chairs for the call centre area.

Located in the heart of Melbourne on RMIT’s City campus, the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies (GUSS) has been designed to reflect the identity of its occupants. It has created a strong grounding for its identity, seen from the inside and outside world.

TCW supplied EON sit-to stand workstations, Domino Task chairs and mobile storage units for this project. The EON workstations incorporated natural woodgrain finishes and PET Acoustic panel for the workstation screens and personal privacy dividers. Over 300 EON workstations in various configurations were supplied to accommodate the school’s occupants over two levels.

Utilising an urban design context as a design narrative was key to unlocking the spatial challenges of a vast and deep floor plan presented to the design. The project involved crafting an authentic space employing natural materials honestly whilst providing spaces of equity and agility delivering a future flexibility.

Located next to the UTS Tower and opposite Central Park on Broadway, UTS Central is a striking, 17-storey, glass-encased building that adds to the architectural diversity of the UTS campus. The building holds a 5 Star Green Star Design and As-Built rating certified by the Green Building Council of Australia.

As well as a vibrant student hub, study areas and Our Faculty of Law space, it will also be home to the new UTS Library and scholarly Reading Room. TCW was proud to supply a range of our agile products that support the cutting-edge facility for education and research, supporting active and collaborative learning.

TCW was brought in by Danks Design to supply a range of furniture for this new Office, Training and Conference Facility for 62 staff in Pyrmont.

Book A:

The breakout areas are bright warm, having been designed to maximise space for when you are not hard at work. TCW supplied Butterfly Tables and Chilli+ Lime Tables from Luxmy with Urban chairs for these areas.

In the workspace area Markant MO-X and Scenarios, credenzas and storage were used to create focused back to back clusters. This included ergonomic support through the cable management systems.

Meeting rooms needed to be agile so that the same space can be utilised for a conference, meeting, group work or training area. Thinking Works I.Am folding tables are ideal here with a linking device and simple folding mechanism.

NSW Rugby League Centre of Excellence

The new Rugby League Centre of Excellence located in Olympic Park is a space that unites the NSWRL, CRL, NSWRL Referees Association and other affiliates, and a home base for the NSW VB Blues and all state representative teams. The site contains playing fields, hydrotherapy and sports science facilities, change rooms, an event space and administrative offices.

ADCO preferred to go with a single supplier, to keep things as smooth and seamless as possible. TCW was specified by the Populous for our range of flexible meeting and education tables all of which are ideal for multi-use environments and suited the clients needs. We demonstrated the ability to provide competitive quality products to meet their budget and worked closely with ADCO and Populous for a successful result.

In the players’ breakout lounge and the main reception we supplied tub chairs, bar stools, sofas, I.AM tables, and Cheese on Toast side tables. In addition to this were bike racks and custom sliding door cabinets. The scenic meeting rooms views were fit out with the EONA boardroom table and Cron Sport high back chairs. The elegant Audit 10 seating with writing tablets were installed in the amphitheatre in that wonderful NSW shade of blue. Breakout and administrative areas were also looked after by TCW with Vital Plus workstations, Stay chairs and Spacio all from Actiu.

NSW Parliament House

The refurbishment of the auditorium at NSW Parliament House presented many design challenges due to certain structural engineering restrictions. Unceasing collaboration between TCW/Actiu and NBRS Architecture resulted in the delivery of a high quality solution. In the auditorium there are 164 seats from the Actiu Audit collection spread over 11 rows.

Book A:

The project was not without its challenges. There were air-conditioning grilles on the concrete floor that had to be avoided, so Actiu came up with a 3-seat beam to supplement the single foot pedestal. The seat light fittings were sourced from Dunnart from Light Project, and the signage is an Actiu standard. The specified Instyle Vinyl is a simple and elegant tone that meets with the retardant standard in Australia. All in all this project required a lot of communication with the client, our suppliers and NBRS and we are highly satisfied with the outcome and our ability to manage challenging projects.

Deakin University Greenwood Park

TCW has specified education furniture for a number of projects for the leading Victorian tertiary institution, Deakin University. For this project TCW worked with WMK Melbourne to deliver on a new workspace to accommodate three faculties relocating from the main Burwood campus located nearby to Greenwood Park.

Book A:

This was a highly collaborative design and construction project, successfully delivered within a tight timeframe and on budget. The building architecture absorbed the nearby park and carved a series of pathways throughout the space, linking experiences along the way.

We provided a series of furniture that were ideal for flexibility, communal areas that featured modular furniture and collaborative learning. From our ranges we supplied MOX Workstations, Multiway Sit Stand Workstations, Bend Ottomans, I AM Tables and TCW Disc Base Tables.

As part of Taronga Zoo’s Centenary Revitalisation Plan, The Taronga Institute of Science and Learning (TISL) was created with a vision to reveal innovative concepts for conservation, science and learning.

Book A:

To set TISL apart from other science and research institutions, the concept of “the discovery of patterns in nature” was developed as a core design influence. This can be seen from the ‘hive-inspired’ designs in the main foyer to the environmental graphics and details throughout each space. The incorporation of natural materials throughout the design further highlights the harmony between the facility’s visual aesthetic and the surrounding sandstone landscape.

Designed to cater for staff as well as visitors, TISL cleverly integrates animal-friendly zones with educational and community spaces to create an interactive and immersive experience that promotes the “cross-pollination” of ideas across science, education and animal care.

TCW worked with the Builder, Architect and Taronga Zoo to supply a range of furniture to meet the needs of the multi-disciplinary research, teaching, outdoor and breakout spaces across the facility. We provided a diverse collection of furniture, integrating the natural design elements and tones of each area to complement the spatial unity of the Institute and its surroundings.

A great example of this are the Albury and Bronte chairs. Ideal for both breakout areas as well as working and meeting rooms, they are an excellent fit for multi-use spaces. In keeping with the feel of the built environment, we supplied chairs which were upholstered in earthy colours and set on wooden bases. This ensured that they slid comfortably into the visual aesthetic.

Red Energy Melbourne

The offices of Red Energy now reside in the historic Bryant and May factory, located in Cremorne, Melbourne. The interiors of the four-level dynamic space were designed by Carr and maintain a respect for the stunning heritage-listed framework of the building.

Book A:

The 10,000sqm area is divided with a considered use of furniture and fittings, which very much reflect the trending culture of an open office and collaborative workplace. This space had to accommodate over 1000 Red Energy staff that ranges from customer service to business and technologies. Tables Chairs and Workstations provided over 60 I AM Tables from Thinking Works and over 1500 Flo monitor arms from Colebrook Bosson Saunders.

TCW worked alongside FDC Building bringing in an array of furniture required for this two building fit out. The new six storey University of Sydney, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) building is clad in bronzed glass skin and take on a slight V-shape as it juxtaposes against the 122 year old Heydon-Laurence building and 101 year old R.D. Watt building.
